Seahawks Close Regular Season With Loss

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW closed out the regular season with a 12-4 loss at Brooks Field on Saturday to Campbell in Coastal Athletic Association action.

With the win, the Camels pushed their record to 39-15 overall and set a conference record for wins with a 26-4 record. The Seahawks, meanwhile, cap the regular season with a 28-26 ledger overall and 16-14 in the league.

Unofficially, the Seahawks will be the six-seed in next week's conference tournament at Brooks Field. The final tournament field and seedings will be announced by the conference on Sunday.

Campbell extended a 2-1 lead to 12-4 by outscoring the Seahawks, 10-3, in the middle three innings.

Mason Smith (4-4) earned the win in relief for the Camels and Connor Marshburn (4-6) took the loss.

Jett Music belted a three-run homer, and Elijah Clayton finished with two hits for Campbell.

UNCW's Casey Carpenter, a freshman, slammed a two-run shot in the fifth. It was his first of the season.
