WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW head coach Matt Clark and his Seahawk golf program look to extend their season this weekend when they compete at the St. James Plantation Golf Course for the Colonial Athletic Association championship beginning on April 24.

The Seahawks will start a young lineup that has excelled during the spring portion of the 2014-15 season. Coach Clark's lineup includes three freshmen, a sophomore and a junior and each will be making their CAA Championship debut.

Trey Guy, a sophomore, leads that lineup, having posted a pair of top-five finishes in the spring. Guy opened the spring tying for second at the Cape Fear National Intercollegiate and later tying for fifth at the Irish Creek Collegiate. His three-round total of 210, three-under-par, at Irish Creek was a career-best.

Freshman Pat Cover enters the championship having posted a pair of top-20 finishes in his last two outings. Cover tied for 18th at the Gary Koch Invitational and tied for 12th, finishing one-over, at the Irish Creek Collegiate.

Thomas Eldridge, another freshman, looks to rebound from a tough spring season after posting a top-10 finish in the fall and adding a 21st-place showing at the Primland Collegiate Invitational, where he finished four-under.

Ross Robison, who hails from Wilmington, is the third and final freshman for the Seahawks. His best finish of his rookie campaign was in the fall when he tied for 14th at the Rees Jones Intercollegiate.

Rounding out the lineup will be David Kostyal, another local product, who fashioned a trio of top-20 finishes, including a second-place showing at the Bandon Dunes Championship.

Cover and Kostyal are tied for the stroke lead on the team, both at 74.17 strokes per round with Eldridge coming in third at 74.76. Eldridge and Robison are tied for the lead with 25 rounds played.

The Seahawks are carrying some momentum into the championships, having carded two of their five lowest rounds of the season at the Irish Creek Collegiate.
UNCW finished fourth at the 2014 championship, 25 shots behind conference champion, the College of Charleston.
