Welcome to this week's installment of the summer baseball
report as we take a look at what the Seahawks are doing in the various summer
leagues throughout the nation.
Jordan Ramsey (Cotuit
Kettleers/Cape Cod League) - Ramsey picked up his second win of the season,
both coming out of the bullpen, Thursday night. Cotuit topped Bourne in an 8-6
slugfest. Ramsey allowed three runs in three innings on four hits, walked one
and struck out one. In 19 2/3 innings, he's walked just three batters while
striking out 13. He has posted a 4.12 ERA
Hunter Ridge
(Asheboro Copperheads/Coastal Plain League) - After seeing his average dip
to .274 last report, Ridge has regained his edge at the plate and raised his
average to .294. He's third on the club with 17 walks and has knocked in nine
runs for a sluggish offense.
Luke Dunlap (Columbia
Blowfish/Coastal Plain League) - Dunlap is hitting .176 in 34 at bats for
the Blowfish, who has opened the second half with a 4-3 record in the West
Division.
William Prince
(Morehead City Marlins/Coastal Plain League) - Prince still ranks among the
league leaders with five saves, but struggled Thursday night against the
Wilmington Sharks in a 7-6 loss. He cruised through the seventh and eighth
innings, but was tagged for five runs, three earned, in the ninth. Prince's ERA
jumped to 4.50 following the outing. He's walked just three, but opponents are
hitting .327 against him.
Blaze Tart
(Wilmington Sharks/Coastal Plain League) - Rain this week in eastern North
Carolina played havoc with the CPL schedule and pushed Tart's start back to
this weekend. He enters his next start with a 2.29 ERA and opponents are
hitting just .214 against him.
Justin Livengood
(Wilmington Sharks/Coastal Plain League) - Livengood had a tough outing
against Wilson in a 9-2 loss to the Tobs. He surrendered five runs, just two
earned, on four hits in an inning of relief. Livengood struck out two, but also
issued two free passes. In seven appearances, he's posted a 4.22 ERA.
Dillon Bass (North
Adams SteepleCats/New England Collegiate League) - Bass is hitting .133 in
30 at bats over the course of 13 games played.
Christian MacDonald
(North Adams SteepleCats/New England Collegiate League) - MacDonald held
Vermont in check over the final 2 1/3 innings, allowing one run on three hits
and a walk. In seven games, he's fashioned a 3.86 ERA with seven strikeouts in
14 innings.
Michael Bass
(Bethesda Big Train/Cal Ripken League) - Bass continues his torrid play
with the Big Train, pushing his season average to .274 with seven hits over his
last four games entering the all-star break. He's second on the club with 27
runs scored and tied for the lead with 10 stolen bases. His eight doubles are
second on the team.
Luis Renvill (Front
Royal Cardinals/Shenandoah Valley League) - Renvill is second on the
Cardinals with a .294 batting average and is tied for the lead with 19 runs
batted in. He was slated to play in the Valley's All-Star game, but rain
shortened the game to a seven-inning contest.
Corey Dick (Front
Royal Cardinals/Shenandoah Valley League) -Another Valley League All-Star, Dick
passed Renvill for the team lead in average with a .297 mark. He's knocked in
17 runs and scored 13 while posting a .446 on base average thanks to a
team-high 28 walks.
Ryan Mayhew (Front
Royal Cardinals/Shenandoah Valley League) - Mayhew continues to strikeout
batters at a tremendous rate with 23 in 11 2/3 innings. He is 0-1 with a 6.94
ERA in nine appearances. In his last outing, Mayhew fanned six in three innings
and walked one.
Justin Manning (Lake
Norman Copperheads/Southern Collegiate Baseball League) - Manning is
another Seahawk to raise his average recently with a string of strong outings
at the plate. His average jumped to .328 entering this weekend thanks to three
two-hit games since July 6. He also belted his first round tripper of the
summer that day and knocked in four runs.
