ELON, N.C. – Senior
Griffin Wald placed fourth overall in the men's 6K, while
Elizabeth Dokulil,
Olivia Priddy and
Cooper Kovach all set collegiate bests as UNCW men's and women's cross country opened the season at the Elon XC "Friday Night Lights" opener Friday night.
The men's team finished sixth overall in the 6K, while the women placed 12th in the 4K.
Wald clocked a time of 19:19.7 to finish fourth overall in the men's race. Sophomore Kovach followed with a collegiate-best time of 20:16.4, improving by more than 10 seconds from his previous best of 20:31.7, set at the 2025 Elon XC Opener.
Dokulil paced the women's team, finishing 34th overall with a collegiate-best time of 15:21.9. The sophomore improved her previous best, set at the 2025 Elon XC Opener, by 13.6 seconds.
Priddy recorded the third collegiate best of the night for the Seahawks, finishing 90th overall in 16:31.1. She improved her previous best by more than two minutes.
Two Seahawks made their collegiate debuts Friday night, with
Ava Lanzy finishing 54th overall in the women's 4K with a time of 15:47.6, while
Chase Liming placed 47th in the men's 6K in 20:40.1.
