Three Seahawks Set For Arizona Fall League

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Former UNCW standouts Luke CraigRJ Sales and Adam Smith have been selected to play in the Arizona Fall League, which opens on October 3.

The league is owned and operated by Major League Baseball and features the top prospects in the minor leagues. Six teams will play 30 games apiece, with major league teams contributing players to the rosters.

Craig was a seventh-round pick of Arizona after leading the Seahawks to a Coastal Athletic Association championship and an appearance in the Athens Regional in 2024. In 2026, Craig returned from an injury to make 16 relief appearances, including 12 with Hillsborough of the Northwest League. With the Hops, he posted a 2.70 earned run average and struck out 12 in 13.1 innings. He nailed down both save opportunities and recorded three holds.

Sales, who was also a standout on the 2024 Seahawks, made five appearances for Fredericksburg and Wilmington after also returning from an injury. Sales, who is now a member of the Washington Nationals farm system, fanned 16 in 13.2 innings and limited opponents to a .217 batting average.

Both Craig and Sales will play for Salt River.

Rounding out the Seahawk contingent is Smith, who is a member of the Seattle Mariners minor league system. Smith made 33 relief appearances between Everett and Arkansas in 2026 and posted a 6-5 record. The righthander was selected in the 14th round of the 2021 MLB draft by San Diego.

Brett Banks was the last Seahawk to pitch in the AFL as a member of the Surprise Saguaros in 2023 while he was in the New York Mets organization.
