Hood Adds Brown To Coaching Staff

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW head baseball coach Randy Hood has announced the hiring of former East Carolina standout Turner Brown to his coaching staff for the 2026-27 season.

"Turner brings a wealth of knowledge and coaching experience to the staff. I've always had a lot of respect for how he played the game and what he can bring to our players and program," said Hood. "He's a grinder and proven winner wherever he's been. We are excited to have him join our staff and help us win championships."

Brown comes to the Seahawks following two seasons on the coaching staff at Jacksonville and he served as head coach at Whiteville High School from 2022 through 2024. While with the Wolfpack, Brown led his team to a 60-17 overall record with a State Championship appearance in 2022 and a Regional Final appearance in 2024.

"I want to thank Coach Hood for giving me this incredible opportunity," said Brown. "My family and I are proud and excited to be a part of the UNCW baseball program. UNCW has a rich tradition of excellence and high standards. I'm excited to get to work and help UNCW baseball compete for championships."

Brown, who was selected in the 19th round of the 2019 MLB Draft by Colorado, is an East Carolina graduate and contributed to 161 wins (56 in league play), three NCAA Regional berths (two as a national seed), and two Super Regional appearances. At the close of his career, he stood among the all-time leaders (Top 10) in sacrifices (first/56), starts (second/231), assists (605/third), hit by pitches (36/third), games played (235/sixth), and at-bats (803/ninth). Brown hit.269, belted 12 home runs, drove in 126, and scored 127 times with the Pirates.

During his tenure at Jacksonville, the program went 60-51.
