WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW head women's basketball coach Nicole Woods has added freshman Jazlyn Bowman and transfer Naylee Cortes to the Seahawks' 2026-27 roster.
Bowman comes to Wilmington as a 5-foot-11 guard from Orlando, Florida. She attended Plant High School and Windermere Prep and was a four-year varsity player.
Bowman earned two first-team all-district, all-metro and all-city selections during her prep career while helping lead her teams to two district championships and three regional appearances.
As a senior, Bowman shot 77 percent from the free-throw line, earned team MVP honors three times and set school records for most 3-pointers in a season while tying the single-game 3-point record on three occasions.
"Jaz is not just a shooter, she is a shot-maker," Woods said. "She brings versatility from the guard spot and poses an uncanny ability to put the ball in the basket in a variety of ways. We are excited to have her."
Cortes joins the Seahawks from College of Charleston as a 5-foot-10 forward and graduate student after spending her entire collegiate career with the Cougars.
Last season, Cortes appeared in 19 games and totaled 31 points, 26 rebounds and 13 steals.
Cortes attended Central Pointe Christian Academy, where she was a varsity starter during her high school career. In 2021, she served as team captain and helped lead her team to an SIAA championship.
That same season, Cortes earned six player of the game selections while also being named SIAA Player of the Year and first-team all-SIAA. She additionally competed for the Colombian National Team from 2018-20.
"Naylee brings a championship pedigree and sense of toughness," Woods said. "She is a defensive-minded player with a team-first mentality. Her leadership will be key for our team. I am looking forward to seeing what she does in a Seahawk uniform!"
