Four Seahawks Earn CAA Postseason Accolades

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW men's basketball head coach Takayo Siddle was honored as the Coastal Athletic Association Coach of the Year, while senior guard Madison Durr claimed Sixth Man of the Year honors following a vote of the league's 13 head coaches as announced on Friday morning.

Redshirt junior Patrick Wessler became the 23rd Seahawk (third under Siddle) to earn All-CAA First Team honors, while senior leader Nolan Hodge's breakout campaign cemented his status on the All-CAA Second Team.

Siddle becomes the fourth Seahawks bench boss to earn two Coach of the Year honors – joining Jerry Wainwright, Brad Brownell and Kevin Keatts – after first winning the award in 2022. The sixth-year head coach guided UNCW to its fourth outright regular season championship (league-record 10th overall) one year after reaching the NCAA Tournament for a conference-record seventh time.

One year after losing UNCW's top five scorers from the 2025 CAA Tournament Championship team, Siddle and his staff restocked the program with several talented transfers, including Durr and Wessler, while retaining key contributors such as Hodge, Noah Ross and Greedy Williams.

The 2025-26 Seahawks did not miss a beat, rattling off a program-record-tying 26 regular-season wins and matching the school record with 15 conference wins, along with 11 road wins. UNCW was the lone team to finish in the top four of the CAA in overall offensive and defensive scoring and paced the circuit with a +10.1 scoring margin while leading the league in rebounds per game (39.9).

This year's resilient squad constructed five double-digit comebacks, including erasing a program record 24-point deficit at Stony Brook in January. The Seahawks won games in a variety of ways with six different leading scorers.

Siddle helped orchestrate three winning streaks of six contests or more, including a nine-game victory run during non-conference action. UNCW extended its program record with its fifth straight 20-win campaign.

After starting 93 of 95 games in the previous three seasons at The Citadel and Monmouth, Durr embraced his role as the sixth man on the CAA's top team to the tune of 9.8 ppg. The Atlanta, Ga., native paced the Seahawks in scoring three times and scored a season-high 20 points in 27 minutes in a Jan. 17 win vs. Campbell.

Durr reached double figures 17 times in 2025-26 and dished out at least five assists five times, highlighted by a season-high seven dimes in a dominant win over rival East Carolina on Nov. 18.

The 6-5, 195-pound Durr was second on the team in assists (70) and ranked fifth in the conference with 133 made free throws.

Wessler, the lone big man on the CAA First Team, paced the circuit with 16 double-doubles, the most in the league since the 2019-20 season, and surpassed double-digits scoring 26 times. The Virginia Tech transfer totaled five contests with at least 14 rebounds, including a career-high 16 caroms against Charleston.

On the interior, Wessler rejected at least two shots seven times, anchored by a program-record-tying six blocks in a defensive battle against Hampton early in conference play. The Matthews, N.C., native was the Seahawks' top scorer nine times and top rebounder on 22 occasions.

Hodge averaged 10.2 points over his final 10 games as a junior, capped by a team-leading 18 points off the bench in the NCAA Tournament vs. Texas Tech and carried that momentum into his fourth campaign as the Seahawks' top scorer at 14.6 ppg.

The Greensboro, N.C., native established career-highs nearly across the board, including a 28-point effort to engineer a double-digit deficit comeback road win at Valparaiso in mid-December. It was one of eight 20-point efforts this season for Hodge, who shot 39.8 percent from three-point range.

Hodge, along with Ross, are the lone two Seahawks to spend their entire collegiate career under Coach Siddle, and one of three Seahawks to win more than 98 games in their careers.

The Seahawks' quest for their second-straight CAA Tournament crown begins on Sunday, Mar. 8, against the winner of Saturday's No. 8 Stony Brook/No. 9 Campbell contest. Tip-off from the CareFirst Arena in Washington, D.C. is scheduled for Noon.
