Baseball Preview: UConn

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW looks to carry momentum from an extra-inning win at Charleston Southern into this weekend when they host Big East Conference favorite UConn beginning on Friday at 4 p.m.

Danny O'Brien's leadoff homer in the top of the 11th gave the Seahawks (5-4) the lead in an 11-10 win over previously undefeated Charleston Southern. Freshman Jackson Caldwell struck out five, including the side in the bottom of the 11th to earn the victory.

The Huskies, meanwhile, won 3-of-4 at Arizona to take that non-conference series in Tuscon. UConn enters the weekend with a 3-5 mark.

The Seahawks will send Connor Marshburn, Cooper Allen and Bromley Thornton to the bump this weekend. UNCW starters have compiled a 2.05 ERA this season.
