Steffen Tabbed By CAA Tennis

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW senior Lukas Steffen was honored on Tuesday as the Coastal Athletic Association Player of the Week after going 3-0 and earning a win against a nationally ranked opponent.

Steffen, who ran his winning streak to four, opened his No. 1 singles match with 116th-ranked Yassine Dlimi with a 6-3 win in the first set. Dlimi, however, answered with a 6-2 victory to tie the match. Steffen answered with a 6-3 win in the deciding set.

Steffen opened the season at number two singles, but after two matches, he was elevated to the top spot. Sitting at 4-2, both his setbacks came in the opening weekend ITA Kickoff event against nationally-ranked Texas and Washington.

The Seahawks return to the road this upcoming week, beginning with a match at nationally-ranked Oregon on Mar. 1, in Eugene.
