WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW senior Lukas Steffen was named the CAA Most Outstanding Player at the Men's Tennis Championship following a strong weekend.
Steffen competed at No. 1 singles against Drexel in the semifinals on April 18, defeating Tarek Erlewein 6-3, 6-4 to help the Seahawks to a 4-3 win. He also earned UNCW's lone point in the championship match, a 4-1 loss, with a 7-5, 6-2 victory over Elon's Veljko Krstic. In doubles, Steffen and William Dean went 1-1 at No. 2.
Steffen becomes the third straight Seahawk to earn the honor and ninth in program history, joining Joseph Wayand in 2025 and Harold Huens in 2024.
Steffen finished the season 14-4 at No. 1 singles and 15-5 overall. UNCW finished the season 11-12 overall and 3-1 in the CAA. He was also named CAA Player of the Week twice this season on Mar. 24 and Feb. 24
