Women's Basketball Preview: Northeastern

Conference play opens Friday at Trask Coliseum

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Seahawks open the new year with Northeastern on Friday at 7 p.m. as Coastal Athletic Association action starts up this evening across the league.

UNCW knocked off Columbia International, 76-37, to close out the calendar earlier this week to improve to 4-7. The Huskies, meanwhile, topped Boston College 73-67, to cap their non-conference record at 4-6.

Against Columbia International, Icyss Storm posted her first double-double with 11 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. Paige Smith and Angelina Pelayo held game-high honors with 14 points apiece.

Camryn Collins heads up NU in scoring at 12.4 points per game and Yirsey Queliz adds 11.8 points.

For the Seahawks, Rori Cox and Kylah Silver are scoring 13 and 12.3 points per game, respectively.

Friday's game will be streamed on FloCollege with John Smist at the call.
