Women's Basketball Preview: at Monmouth

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – After opening its Coastal Athletic Association schedule with a pair of home games, the Seahawks head north for two CAA games beginning Friday at Monmouth.

UNCW (5-8, 1-1 CAA) edged Northeastern last weekend, 69-67, and dropped a 54-48 decision to Hofstra after nearly wiping out a 15-point fourth quarter deficit.

Rori Cox continues to lead the Seahawks offensively at 12.3 points per game and she paces the conference in steals with 39. Kylah Silver, who missed last season with an injury, is scoring at 11.9 ppg, leads the Seahawks with 6.2 rebounds per outing.

Monmouth, meanwhile, posted a pair of road wins at Elon (77-62) and North Carolina A&T (61-55). The Hawks enter Friday with a seven-game winning streak in hand and stand at 5-1 at home.

Four Monmouth players are averaging double-figures in scoring with Divine Dibula's 12.2 points per game leading the pack. The Hawks have balanced scoring but have relied on their defense to fuel their success. MU is limiting opponents to 58.6 points per game.

Friday's game is a 2 p.m. start and will be streamed on FloCollege and in the tri-state area on SNY.
