Cox Posts Double-Double At Towson

TOWSON, Md. – Rori Cox had a team-high 16 points and 10 rebounds, but UNCW came up short in a 79-68 loss at Towson's SECU Arena on Sunday in Coastal Athletic Association women's basketball action.

The Tigers pushed their winning streak to six while their record grew to 10-5 overall and 3-0 in conference play. UNCW, meanwhile, fell to 5-10 and 1-3 with its third consecutive setback.

The Seahawks attempted to cut into the Towson lead in the fourth quarter, but the Tigers converted 11-of-12 attempts from the free throw line to hold their lead.

Cox's double-double was her first of the season and her 10 rebounds were a season high. Joining her in double-figure scoring were Kylah Silver and Mary Ferrito with 13 and 11 points, respectively.

Tilda Sjokvist tied Cox for game-high honors with 16 points of her own. She finished 6-for-11 from the field, including 4-of-8 from three-point range. Kayla Morris, Zoli Khalil and Viki Matulevicius all chipped in 11 points apiece.

The Seahawks open a three-game homestand on Jan. 16 against Elon. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
