WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW men's tennis head coach
Mait DuBois has signed Yorba Linda, California native
Martin Mazev, a transfer from the defending national champions Wake Forest, for the 2025-26 season.
As a sophomore, Mazev appeared in 10 total matches last spring and posted a 6-0 record for the Demon Deacons. Mazev went 1-0 at the top doubles position, 2-0 at the No. 2 spot, and 3-0 from the No. 3 doubles spot.
"Martin comes to us after helping win a national championship at Wake Forest University, DuBois said. "His coaches all spoke highly of his potential, work ethic, character, team-first attitude and leadership.  He has a very aggressive game style and has huge upside with his game. I have always had a lot of respect for his game when seeing him play, and I enjoyed hearing his former coaches speak of his team attitude. He is familiar with the high aspirations we have here, and I know he will make an impact right away on our team."
A former five-star recruit on tennisrecruiting.net, Mazev has compiled a Universal Tennis Rating of 11.94 in singles and 12.35 UTR in doubles.
