Marin Earns First ATP Point in Colombia

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Tomas Marin, an incoming signee for the UNCW men's tennis team, earned the first American Tennis Professionals (ATP) point of his career to advance to the second round of M15 in Bucaramanga, Colombia.

Marin won two rounds of qualifying before defeating Pablo Robledo Hoyos 6-3, 6-1 on July 15 in the round of 32.

Marin converted on nearly 70% of his first serves, and he outscored Robledo Hoyos 62-43 in total points and 25-16 in points won on the first serve.

An incoming freshman from Bogotá, Colombia, Marin has a Universal Tennis Rating of 12.20. He was ranked 430th in the ITF World Juniors and defeated four top-100 players, including wins over one top-10 player and three top-50 players on the circuit. He captured three ITF doubles titles and was a finalist at three more events.
