WILMINGTON, N.C. – Mait DuBois, head coach of the 71st-ranked UNCW men's tennis team, has announced the signing of Yorkshire, England native Harry Abel, one of the top British juniors players, for the upcoming fall season.
"Through the recruiting process, everyone who spoke of Harry talked about his love for tennis and his work ethic," DuBois said. "He has an excellent foundation and a lot of success at the international level. "Harry and his father were able to come for a visit and his character and personality really connected with our team. He is also an exceptional student. We are excited about what he brings to our team and his future with our program."
Abel has a decorated résumé, including an International Tennis Federation World Junior ranking of 269 and a top-10 ranking in British juniors. He won an ITF event in singles and tallied wins in eight ITF doubles events. Abel was also the winner of the Scottish Nationals.
