UNCW, WSFX Announce 8-Game Broadcast Schedule

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Beginning with the season opener against Quinnipiac on Feb. 14, local Fox affiliate WSFX will broadcast eight UNCW baseball games this spring.

"We're excited to extend our partnership with WSFX following a successful debut with our men's basketball program," said UNCW Director of Athletics Michael Oblinger.

"We are thrilled to add UNCW baseball games to WSFX FOX Wilmington line up! Building on our partnership with UNCW, we aim to leverage the FOX brand, known for its extensive coverage of major sports, and to elevate the profile of UNCW Athletics within the local market," said General Manager Hugh Hardage of FOX Wilmington.

Friday's Opening Day game with visiting Quinnipiac will kick off the baseball package. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.

The Seahawks were picked by the Coastal Athletic Association coaches to defend their conference title from last season. UNCW will also host nationally-ranked Georgia this weekend.

Junior first baseman Tanner Thach was placed on the Golden Spikes Award Watch List earlier this month. The award goes to the top amateur baseball player in the nation. The slugger added first-team NCBWA preseason All-America honors to his resume last week.
