Shannon, Gyamfi Receive USC All-Region Notice

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW men's soccer's Jake Shannon and Osei Gyamfi garnered United Soccer Coaches (USC) All-Atlantic Region honors as announced by the organization on Tuesday.

Shannon, the Coastal Athletic Association Co-Defender of the Year, claimed regional First Team accolades while Gyamfi earned a spot on the USC's Third Team.

The four-time All-CAA defender, Shannon played all but one possible minute of his collegiate career and exits Wilmington ranked fourth in career minutes played (6,219). Shannon scored three of his four career goals as a senior and added an assist in each of the last two years.

Gyamfi scored three goals and assisted three other scores en route to the All-CAA Second Team. The 5-9 midfielder/forward, who scored goals in three straight matches in mid-September, increased his shot on goal accuracy by 13 percent across a career-high 38 attempts.

The duo was one of 19 CAA players to earn All-Region accolades this season.
