Shannon Captures Academic All-American Honors

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW men's soccer standout Jake Shannon continues a fruitful awards season with 2025 Academic All-American Second Team distinctions as announced by the College Sports Communicators on Tuesday.

Shannon, a four-time All-Coastal Athletic Association selection, including a First Team nod this fall, completed his degree in Business Administration this semester with a sterling 3.80 GPA.

On the pitch, the 6-2 defender played every minute of all 16 games. Shannon anchored a backline that produced three shutouts this season and scored a career-high three goals, including the game-winner against Charleston, to go with a pair of assists en route to CAA Co-Defender of the Year honors.

The team captain was named to the United Soccer Coaches All-Region First Team this year after polishing off a phenomenal four-year collegiate career that included a start in all possible contests, where Shannon played all but one minute since joining UNCW in 2022.

Shannon, the third Academic All-American in program history, ranks fourth on the Seahawks' career minutes played (6,219) leaderboard and helped produce 24 career shutouts while scoring four goals with four assists in his time in the Port City. He helped the Seahawks to three CAA Tournament berths, including a dramatic run to the CAA Finals in 2024.
