Storm's Double-Double Highlights Non-Conference Win

WILMINGTON, N.C. - Freshman Icyss Storm poured in 11 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for her first career double-double as UNCW ran past Columbia International, 76-37, in women's college basketball action Monday at Trask Coliseum.
 
The Seahawks, who wrapped up their non-conference schedule, snapped a four-game losing streak to improve to 4-7 on the season and 3-1 at home.
 
Storm was joined in double-digits by Paige Smith and Angelina Pelayo, both with a game-high 14 points, and McCall King, whose 12 points matched her career-high.
 
Storm's 13 caroms were a career-high and helped the Seahawks to a 23-rebound advantage.
 
King's career-high in points was aided by 4-of-8 shooting from deep.
 
UNCW stifled the Rams on defense, limiting CIU to 23.3 percent (14-60) from the floor.
 
UNCW shot 61% (17-28) from the floor in the opening half to bolt out to a 41-18 lead.
 
The Seahawks open conference play with Northeastern on Jan. 2 at 7 p.m.
