Baldwin Makes MLB Debut With White Sox

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW baseball alum Brooks Baldwin made his Major League Baseball debut on Friday for the Chicago White Sox, in Kansas City, against the Royals.

Baldwin, who is in his third season of professional baseball, joined Greg Jones and Landen Roupp as Seahawks who made their MLB debuts this season. He becomes the 15th Seahawk to play in the major leagues all-time.

Baldwin, who drew the start at second base, finished 1-for-3 with a single in his first at bat.

Other Seahawks currently in the major leagues include Ryan Jeffers (Twins) and Evan Phillips (Dodgers). Austin Warren is on the San Francisco secondary roster and is rehabbing an injury in the Giants' minor leagues.

Baldwin, who was drafted in 2021, was selected by the White Sox in the 12th round that season after being named Coastal Athletic Association Player of the Year.

At the professional level, Baldwin began the 2024 season at Double-A Birmingham before being promoted to Charlotte, the Triple-A affiliate, on July 4.

In 82 games over two levels this season, Baldwin hit .324 with eight home runs and 17 stolen bases. He has doubled 19 times, scored 40 runs, and knocked in 41.
