Thach Slugs His Way To All-America Honors

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW sophomore first baseman Tanner Thach continued to etch his name in the program's history on Wednesday when he was named All-America by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

Thach, who earned Third Team honors, adds this latest accolade to a list that includes Coastal Athletic Association Co-Player of the Year, First Team All-CAA, and most recently, ABCA First Team All-Atlantic Region.

As a sophomore, Thach became the program's all-time home run leader with 42 roundtrippers to his credit. He launched a program-record 27 homers this season, which was also a CAA single-season record.

Thach posted career-highs in 10 offensive categories, including batting average (.324), runs scored (59), hits (81), runs batted in (75), total bases (175), slugging average (.700), on base average (.406) and stolen bases (4).
