UNCW Takes Fourth At Mason Rudolph Championship

NASHVILLE, TENN. – Sander Akeren and Patrick Sparks finished tied for 11th to lead UNCW at the Mason Rudolph Championship and help the Seahawks to a fourth-place showing on Sunday at the Vanderbilt Legends South Course.

Host Vanderbilt (276-275-271=822) sailed to a tournament victory, finishing with an 18-stroke victory over fellow SEC member Ole Miss (285 -276-279=840). Alabama (292-279-281=852) and UNCW (283-289-284=856) rounded out the top four. The Seahawks finished four strokes behind the Crimson Tide.

The Seahawks posted their fourth top-four finish of the season and the third top-10 of the spring.

Akeren (70-74-69=213) and Sparks (69 -74-70=213) narrowly missed top-10 finishes, sitting outside the top 10 by a single stroke. For Akeren, it was a season-best finish, while Sparks posted his third top-20 finish of the season.

Gray Mitchum (72-69-73=214) added a top-20 finish of his own, placing 16th overall. It was his second top-20 finish of the season.

Next up for the Seahawks is the Coastal Athletic Association Championship, where they'll look to defend their title beginning on Apr. 21, in Beaufort, S.C.
