Seahawks Close Out Fall at Eagle Point

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW men's golf team closed out its fall schedule in 13th place at the Williams Cup by Stitch at Eagle Point Golf Club on Tuesday afternoon.

The Seahawks posted a 295-301-300=896 scorecard to conclude a four-tournament semester. Florida cruised to the team title 12 strokes ahead of runner-up Texas in the 15-field hosted by North Carolina.

UNCW sophomore Mauricio Tello paced the Seahawks with a six-over 222 54-hole score to earn a share of 32nd place in the 81-player tournament that was won by Notre Dame's Nate Stevens. Stevens edged the Longhorns' Daniel Bennett by a single stroke.

Junior John Logan and senior James Rico topped UNCW with eight birdies each while Ethan Boyette converted an Eagle on the seventh hole of Monday's second round.

The Seahawks are ideal until the spring when they tee off a seven-match slate at the SeaBest Invitational hosted by Jacksonville (Fla.) in early February.
