Men's Golf Begins CAA Title Defense On Sunday

SAINT HELENA ISLAND, S.C. – UNCW begins defense of its Coastal Athletic Association championship on Sunday when it tees off at 9:30 a.m. on hole one at Cotton Dike Course on Dataw Island.

The Seahawks will be paired with top-seeded College of Charleston and Elon.

The Cotton Dike Course, a Tom Fazio design, plays to a par of 72 and measures 6,849 yards.

UNCW looks to defend its league title at Dataw, where the Seahawks were powered by a tournament-record 15-under performance in the second round. Walker Isley is rated in the top 100 nationally and has a 69.4 adjusted scoring average in 2023-24. UNCW is looking for its ninth league title; each of the first seven were part of a back-to-back.

Isley enters the tournament with seven top-10 finishes on the season, including three in the top five. This spring he has recorded three top-10 finishes and has 18 rounds of par or better scores.

Patrick Sparks, meanwhile, also returns to defend his conference championship from last year. Sparks carded an 11-under-par 205 for the tournament to win medalist honors by four strokes.

Rounding out the lineup are Sander Akeren, Ryan O'Neil and Gray Mitchum.
