Baseball Preview: at Northeastern

BROOKLINE, Mass. – In a rematch of the 2023 Coastal Athletic Association championship, UNCW and Northeastern open a three-game series on Friday with a 2 p.m. start at Friedman Diamond.

The Seahawks (10-2) and Huskies (9-3) lead the conference standings enter the weekend. The top four teams in the conference standings are separated by just two games with Charleston (9-3) and William & Mary (8-4) rounding out the top four.

The Seahawks carry a six-game winning streak into the key series following an 8-5 win over #12 Wake Forest on Tuesday in Durham. The Huskies, meanwhile, have dropped their last two, including a 9-8 setback in 11 innings to visiting Kansas State on Wednesday.

The two programs have played against each other three times, including the 2023 championship in Charleston. The Seahawks have won the CAA title two of the three times the two have met in the finals.

Tanner Thach belted his 20th homer of the season on Tuesday against Wake Forest and moved into a tie for second on the program's single-season home run list. The record is 21 and is shared by players.
