It's All Navy In Series Opener

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Home runs from Trevor Lucas and Danny O'Brien powered a four-run first inning as Navy belted Teal in the opening game of the annual Navy-Teal Series, 10-0, on Thursday at Brooks Field.

Junior righthander Connor Marshburn will take the mound for Navy on Friday, looking to seal a win of the series. Freshman Davis Cabbage gets the starting nod for Teal. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.

Mac Gillespie, a red-shirt junior, homered in a five-run fifth for Navy as they doubled their lead.

Bromley Thornton (1-0) earned the win, striking out four and allowing a walk over three hitless innings. Mason Murdock, a senior, and sophomore Carver Pleasant closed out the win with a combined four shutout innings.

Alex Sobol (0-1), a sophomore, was saddled with the loss.

Adding RBI doubles for Navy were Jake Bechtel, Mason Hughes and Josh Martinez.

Seven of Navy's eight hits went for extra bases.

While Navy is looking to win the series on Friday, game three of the series will be played Saturday at 1 p.m.
