Teal Takes Series With HR Derby Win

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Teal's duo of John Newton and Cole Nelson knocked off Navy's Trevor Lucas and Danny O'Brien, 8-6, in a Home Run Derby to determine the winner of game three and the Navy-Teal Series on Saturday.

Teal, which was shutout in the series opener, rallied to win the final two games of the series.

Navy plated three runs in the third inning to take the lead. Igniting the outburst were RBI-hits from Lucas, who finished with two hits and three stolen bases, and Will Tyrrell.

Teal drew even the following inning as freshman Casey Carpenter (2-3, 3 RBI) launched a three-run homer in the top of the fourth. It was his second round tripper of the series.

With the fall practice season concluded, the Seahawk look towards their 2026 season-opening series (Feb. 13-15) with visiting Maryland.
