SOUTHPORT, North Carolina – UNCW's Mallory Fobes and Malu Brinker placed among the top four individuals as the Seahawks finished the 2024 Coastal Athletic Association Women's Golf Championship tied for second with Charleston on Sunday at The Reserve Course at St. James.
Fobes shot one-over par 73 on Sunday to finish third while Brinker followed in fourth place. Both Seahawk golfers were named to the CAA All-Tournament team.
Delaware erased a five-stroke deficit entering the final round to win its third CAA title by four shots ahead of the Seahawks and Cougars, who each recorded a 913 54-hole score.
The Blue Hens' Lilia Henkel captured the individual medalist on the first hole of a playoff with Charleston's Viktoria Hund. Both Henkel and Hund finished two strokes ahead of Fobes and were named to the All-Tournament team along with Campbell's Alicia Olsson in fifth.
Senior Nicole Adam, meanwhile, led the 50-player field with 36 pars to finish tied for 10th place.
Sophomore Hannah Altman posted a three-over-par 75 after subbing in for the final round, including a birdie among 15 par or better holes.
UNCW's share of second place is the program's best CAA finish since winning the tournament in 2019.
