SOUTHPORT, North Carolina – The UNCW women's golf team remained perched atop the 10-team field while junior Malu Brinker maintained a share of first on the individual leaderboard through two rounds of the 2024 Coastal Athletic Association Championships at St. James on Saturday.
UNCW (308-204=612) extended its lead to five strokes ahead of Delaware ahead of Sunday's final round. Two-time defending champion Charleston follows in third place, seven shots behind the Seahawks.
Brinker (74-76=150) is tied for first place along with the Blue Hens' Lilia Henkel and Campbell's Alicia Olsson.
Fifth-year Mallory Fobes shaved six strokes off her first-round score to ascend to sole possession of fourth place with par or better results on 15 holes, including a three second-round birdies. Senior Nicole Adam, meanwhile, is in a three-way tie for fifth with a six-over-par 78 score on Saturday.
Freshman Minouche Rooijmans is locked in a three-way tie for 15th after trimming her second-round score by three strokes.
The third and final round of the CAA Championships will tee off on Sunday at 8:30 a.m. The Seahawks will tee off from Hole #1 at 8:50 a.m.
