WALLACE, North Carolina – UNCW's Minouche Rooijmans and Mallory Fobes posted top-20 finishes as the Seahawks concluded play at the 24th annual River Landing Classic on Tuesday at River Landing's River Course.
Rooijmans (72-74-76=222) and Fobes (73-72-80=225) tied for 12th and 19th place, respectively, for UNCW (297-297-303=897), who finished in fourth.
James Madison (293-289-299=881) edged Elon (296-303-287=886) by five strokes with East Carolina rounding out the top three in the 11-team field. It was a similar finish in the individual field with the Dukes' Maria Atwood claiming her first career tournament title over the Phoenix' Kanokwan Ngamwong by two strokes.
Fobes (11), Rooijmans (10) and redshirt sophomore Victoria Levy (10) were three of six players in the 74-golfer field to register double-digit birdies throughout the two-day, 54-hole event.
The Seahawks honored Fobes, a fifth-year, and senior Nicole Adam before the awards presentation in the final UNCW-hosted tournament of their careers.
UNCW next prepares for its final tournament before the CAA Championships with the Clemson Tiger Invitational in Sunset, S.C. from Mar. 22-24.
