Thach Swings His Way To CAA Honors

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Sophomore first baseman Tanner Thach hit .536 with three home runs last week and was named Player of the Week by the Coastal Athletic Association for the second time this season.

The Seahawks went 3-1 with a conference series sweep of rival Elon to open league play. It was the first three-game sweep for either program in the series' history.

Thach hit .615 (8-13) with three home runs, four runs scored, and five runs batted in against the Phoenix. He homered twice in the series-clinching win on Saturday. It was the third time he's homered at least twice in a game this season. Thach had multiple hits in each game of the series.

For the season, Thach is hitting a team-high .352 with 13 home runs and 34 RBIs, also team-leading totals. He is on a seven-game hitting streak.

The Seahawks open a four-game road stretch on Tuesday with a 6 p.m. start at nationally-ranked East Carolina. UNCW then visits North Carolina A&T for a three-game CAA series this weekend beginning on Friday at 6 p.m.
