Impressive Honors Haul For Swimming & Diving

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW freshman William Carrico was named Freshman Swimmer of the Month for January and four Seahawks earned Coastal Athletic Association Swimmer and Diver of the Week honors the conference office announced on Tuesday.

Will Goldey and Ethan Badrian were honored as Swimmer and Diver of the Week, respectively, for their efforts against third-ranked NC State. On the women's side, Cameron Snowden and Lauren Mehta were honored as swimmer and diver of the week, respectively.

Carrico earned Rookie Swimmer of the Month for a second time this season. In January, the freshman from Durham, N.H., recorded a time of 1:58.90 in the 200 breast at NC State, which is the 4th-fastest in the CAA this season. His time of 3:55.78 in the 400 IM against Davidson, is faster than any other swimmer in the conference thus far. Carrico added a second-place finish in the 200 free (1:42.01) versus Davidson.

Goldey recorded the fastest time in the CAA this season in the 100 back, touching the wall in 47.12 seconds in the Seahawks' meet against third-ranked NC State. The senior also posted a time of 1:44.51 in the 200 back, which is the second-fastest in the conference.

Snowden registered a pair of top-three finishes in UNCW's meet at eighth-ranked NC State. The sophomore finished third in the 50 free with a personal best time of 22.82, which is the second-fastest in the CAA this season. She was second in the 100 fly with a time of 53.87, which was just shy of her season best.

Badrian reached the podium on both boards in UNCW's meet at NC State. The sophomore placed second in the 1-meter competition with a score of 304.88 and was third in the 3-meter competition with a score of 316.05.

Mehta turned in two second-place efforts in UNCW's meet at No. 8 NC State. The junior was second on the 1-meter board with a career-best score of 254.63 and was second on the 3-meter board with a season-best score of 276.60.

The Seahawks compete this weekend at The Cavalier Invitational in Charlottesville, Va.
