Swimming & Diving Closes Out Semester Strong

Two program records fall in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – UNCW closed out the fall semester with another strong showing at the Fall Frenzy Invitational as a pair of program records and a meet record fell on Sunday at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center.

The Seahawk women finished second overall while the men were third.

Setting program records for UNCW were Cameron Snowden and Andy Commins in the 100 Free and 200 Butterfly, respectively. Snowden won the event with a time of 48.78 seconds while Commins, who set his record with a mark of 1:45.63 in the morning prelims, finished second in the event in the finals.

William Carrico earned gold in both the 200 Backstroke and 200 Breaststroke. In the backstroke, he clocked in with a meet record time if 1:43.51 and later fashioned a time of 1:56.95 in winning the breaststroke.

Adding wins on the day for UNCW were Gil Shaw, who won the 200 Breaststroke (2:23.60), and Maeren McGonigal in the 200 Backstoke (1:56.95).
