Mongero Joins Baseball Staff

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW Head Baseball Coach Randy Hood, who enters his fifth season with the program at the lead, has announced the addition of Taber Mongero to his staff for the 2024 season.

"I'm extremely excited to bring Taber onto our staff as Director of Player Development," said Hood. "He knows our program from the inside out and will be a great resource for our players. Taber has a bright future in the coaching profession. I'm so glad that it's starting here at his alma mater."

Mongero joins the coaching staff following three seasons as the program's starting shortstop and helping the Seahawks to a pair of Coastal Athletic Association championships appearances and the 2023 conference tournament championship.

During his three-year career with the Seahawks, Mongero started 154-of-156 games played while hitting .295, fielding .954 and committing just 17 errors over his final two seasons. He was an ABCA East Region selection and first-team All-CAA honoree as a senior and CSC Academic All-District as a graduate student.
