Antonelli Set For UNCW MBB Tip-Off Dinner

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Nationally-known college basketball analyst Debbie Antonelli will serve as the keynote speaker for UNCW's 7^th Annual Men's Basketball Tip-Off Dinner in early October.

The popular event will be held at the Burney Center on Thursday, Oct. 5, 2023. Proceeds for the 6 p.m. dinner will benefit the UNCW men's basketball program.

A native of Cary, N.C., Antonelli has been one of the nation's most popular hoops analysts over the last three decades, working for ESPN, Big Ten Network, CBS, Fox Sports Net and Westwood One Radio. She provides commentary for WNBA games for ESPN and NBA-TV and has served as an analyst for the WNBA's Indiana Fever since 1997.

Antonelli attended Cary High School and played collegiately for Hall of Famer Kay Yow at NC State from 1982-86. She helped the Wolfpack advance to the NCAA Tournament all four years, including a pair of Sweet Sixteen appearances.

More recently, Antonelli has gained attention for her free throw shooting and philanthropy. She participated in the Special Olympics South Carolina 24-Hour Nothing But Net marathon on May 18, 2022, in Mount Pleasant, S.C., raising thousands of dollars for the organization by connecting on 2,400 free throws (94 percent) in the time span.

Antonelli was inducted into the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame in 2021 and the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2022.

In 2007, she was the recipient of the Mel Greenberg Award given by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) to the professional who has best displayed a commitment to advancing the role of the media in promoting women's basketball.

Antonelli is also the voice of the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame and a longtime member of the Board of Directors. She is a lifetime member of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund Board of Directors, selected by Coach Yow to carry out her vision for the fund.
