WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The streaking UNCW men's basketball team returns to action following a week layoff on Saturday at Valparaiso at the 3 p.m. ET/2 p.m. CT at the Athletics-Recreation Center.

SERIES INFO
UNCW makes it second trip to Valpo on Saturday and first since the inaugural meeting between the schools in 2000, a 77-69 win for the then-Crusaders.

The schools last met at the 2017 Savannah Invitational over Thanksgiving in Georgia, where Valpo was again victorious, 79-70.

LAST TIME OUT
UNCW pulled away down the stretch from Louisiana, 70-63, last Saturday to secure its eighth straight win and its second-best start in school history at 9-1.

Senior Christian May paced the Seahawks with 18 points to lead four in double figures.

After the Ragin Cajuns' shot 46.7 percent (14-of-30) from the floor in the first half, the UNCW defense limited host Louisiana to 29.6 percent (8-of-27) from the field in the second half to earn the win.

MEN'S HOOPS CELEBRATES 75 SEASONS
No one could have imagined the heights the UNCW men's basketball program has experienced when William J. "Bill" Brooks was hired as Wilmington College's first athletic director, basketball coach, baseball coach and chairman of the health and physical education department in September of 1951.

Now, as the program prepares for its 75th season since the hiring of Coach Brooks, reflections on memorable moments and milestones, highlighted by Tidal Rising, a historic men's basketball documentary series presented by Southeast Mortgage, will be celebrated throughout the 2025-26 campaign.

The Beacons also return to action following a week at the ARC, where they are 5-1 this season.

Freshman guard Rakim Chaney tops all scorers for Roger Powell's squad at 12.7 ppg, including a pair of 20-point efforts vs. Nicholls and Cleveland State.

Inside, 6-10 junior center Shon Tupuola holds averages of eight points and 7.1 rebounds as one of two Valpo players to start every game this season.
