WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Four UNCW women's golf student-athletes have been recognized as All-American Scholars by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) for the 2022-23 academic year.
Hannah Altman, Mallory Fobes, Victoria Levy and Deborah Spair are listed among 1,401 student-athletes across the country who received the prestigious honor. To earn All-American Scholar accolades, a player must compile at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and compete in a minimum of 50 percent of their team's rounds.
Fobes, a three-time All-Colonial Athletic Association First-Teamer, was the fifth player in program history to earn individual entry into the NCAA Regional in May. The East Bend, N.C., native recorded three top-10 finishes bookended by a share of fourth place at the Golfweek Fall Challenge in the season opener and a tie for sixth at the CAA Championships.
Levy, the reigning CAA Rookie of the Year, joined the Seahawks after transferring from UCF and quickly made an impact as one of the top women's golfers in the CAA. She appeared on the conference's All-Second Team after playing 27 rounds with a 73.48 scoring mark and earned two All-CAA Women's Golfer of the Week nods.
Altman averaged a 77.93 score across 14 rounds as a freshman. The Lake City, S.C., product earned a share of 15th place at the River Landing Classic with a 74-75-77=226 score in Wallace, N.C.
Spair, a redshirt sophomore, is a WGCA All-American Scholar for the second straight year. The Memphis transfer recorded two straight top-10 finishes at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational and the River Landing Classic during the spring.
