Men's Soccer Announces 2023 Schedule

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW men's soccer Head Coach Aidan Heaney has unveiled a 16-game regular season schedule featuring eight Colonial Athletic Association contests in 2023.

The Seahawks, 6-4-7 in 2022, will traverse through seven home games at the UNCW Soccer Stadium and nine road matches one year after finishing second in the CAA. In addition, UNCW will play three preseason friendlies: vs. Old Dominion (Aug. 12), at Duke (Aug. 15) and at Mercer (Aug. 19).

"We are really excited about our fall schedule, playing against some great competition," said Heaney, who begins his 23rd season on the Seahawk sidelines. "At UNCW, we always want our players to be tested and to compete at the highest levels of Division 1 and this year may be the most challenging slate we have taken on.

"I feel the CAA, top to bottom, will be the most competitive it has been in many years and we also have a fantastic non-conference slate. It's going to be an exciting season and one our players and staff are thrilled to be taking on! "

UNCW will play five opponents who participated in the 2022 NCAA Tournament with four games – Clemson (Aug. 28), North Carolina (Sept. 19), Georgetown (Oct. 24) and Elon (Oct. 28) – coming on the road. The Seahawks will also host Southern Conference Champion UNC Greensboro on Oct. 10.

The Tigers and Hoyas, along with a home match vs. East Tennessee State (Sept. 9), represent three first-time opponents on the Seahawks' docket. Meanwhile, UNCW and Campbell continue their 57-year-old rivalry as conference opponents for the first time on Sept. 23 in Wilmington.

The 2023 season begins on Aug. 24 vs. American, who makes its first trip to the Port City since departing the CAA in 2000. The Seahawks and Eagles open the season together for the second straight year after the squads played to a scoreless draw in the nation's capital last August.

UNCW starts CAA play vs. Northeastern (Sept. 2) and then travels to Columbia, S.C. to play South Carolina after blanking the Gamecocks, 2-0, in Wilmington last season.

The Seahawks will battle opponents from eight different states including five North Carolina teams plus two Washington, D.C. foes. North Carolina-based opponents include the Camels, Phoenix, Tar Heels and Spartans, along with a trip to Queens on Sept. 12.

An Oct. 21 contest vs. Delaware will represent both the home finale and Senior Day for UNCW before a road swing to Georgetown and Elon closes out the regular season.
The CAA Quarterfinals and Semifinals will be played on Nov. 2 and 5 while the league Final is scheduled for Nov. 11.

The friendly vs. the Monarchs on Aug. 12 will be part of a Soccerpalooza doubleheader that includes a UNCW women's soccer exhibition vs. Clemson at 7:30 p.m. The festivities will include inflatables, food trucks as well as a face painting for children by the UNCW Volleyball team.

Ticket plans are available highlighted by a combo season ticket that includes admission to both Men's and Women's Soccer home games for $60/Adults and $47/Youth (12 and under).

Fans can also purchase just the Men's Soccer-only plans for $40/Adult and $27/Youth (12 and under).

In addition, a Super Seahawk Pass is available for $475 and includes season tickets to Men's and Women's Basketball, Men's and Women's Soccer and Baseball.

Individual game tickets will go on sale at a later date.
