Levy Claims German Amateur Title

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW's Victoria Levy started her summer with a flourish by winning the German Women's Golf International Amateur Championship in Frankfurt, Germany in mid-May.

Levy, the reigning Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Year, rallied from a five-over-par first-round score with an 11-under par over the final three rounds to top the 59-player field featuring women's golfers from 12 different European countries.

"Victoria is one of the hardest-working and most dedicated players on our team," said Cindy Ho, the Seahawks' veteran Head Coach. "She has been so close to breaking through this past year and this win validates all the work she puts into her game."

The Lausanne, Switzerland native, posted a six-under tournament score on 72 holes over four rounds. It marks the first international tournament win of Levy's amateur career.

"I'm very happy to get my first international win," said Levy. "I had a strong year at college and have worked very hard on my mental game with techniques to keep myself present and focused when I got too far ahead of myself. I'm proud of myself for sticking with the process and coming through with the victory."

Levy joined the Seahawks after transferring from UCF and quickly made an impact as one of the top women's golfers in the CAA. She appeared on the conference's All-Second Team after playing a team-high 27 rounds with a 73.48 scoring mark and earned two All-CAA Women's Golfer of the Week nods.
 
Levy matched fifth-year Phu Khine with four top-10 finishes to lead UNCW as well as two top-5 ranks. Last spring, the 5-4 sophomore recorded back-to-back top-5 finishes at the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational and River Landing Classic.
