Series Opener Moved To 4 p.m. On Thursday

UNCW enters the weekend looking to win the regular season championship

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW closes out its home schedule this week when it hosts longtime Colonial Athletic Association rival William & Mary with the league's regular season championship on the line. The series opens Thursday with a 4 p.m. start at Brooks Field.

The Seahawks lead the standings by winning percentage points ahead of Northeastern, who is hosting the College of Charleston in another key conference series. The Huskies and Cougars have earned tournament berths while Elon, who sits in third place, heads to Hofstra, who is looking to secure a tournament berth.

William & Mary, along with Hofstra, Delaware and Stony Brook are competing for the remaining two tournament berths. UD visits Monmouth while SBU heads to Towson.

UNCW clinched its tournament spot with a series win over Northeastern and extended its streak to 37 consecutive conference tournaments played. It is the only school in the conference to make every tournament the conference has held.

The Seahawks' last regular season championship came in 2016, but in 2021, they earned the South Division championship.

On Saturday, UNCW will honor and recognize 13 senior student-athletes before the game for their accomplishments and dedication on the field, in the classroom and in the community. The pregame ceremony will be held at 1:50 p.m. with the first pitch slated for 2:15 p.m.

The Seahawks head to Mount Pleasant, S.C., next week for the Colonial Athletic Association championship tournament beginning on May 24. Game dates and times will be determined on Sunday by the league office.
