CAA Recognizes DuBois, Six Seahawks

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW's Mait DuBois has been named the Colonial Athletic Association's Men's Tennis Coach of the Year for the ninth time and six Seahawks have been recognized on the league's All-Conference team.

The Seahawks recently finished the season with a 17-8 record and went a perfect 6-0 against Colonial Athletic Association opponents. UNCW swept through the CAA Tournament in easy fashion before falling to No. 11 Duke, 4-2, in the NCAA Regionals in Durham, N.C.

Dubois, who just completed his 16th season with the Seahawks, piloted the team to its third consecutive conference championship and the club's ninth title in the last 14 years. The Seahawks have made 10 NCAA Tournament appearances since Dubois' arrival in 2007-08.

With nine CofY awards, DuBois is the second most decorated head coach in CAA history, trailing only former VCU skipper Paul Kostin, who won the award 10 times from 1996-2011.

Junior Reece Falck (Christchurch, New Zealand) and sophomore Harold Huens (Waterloo, Belgium) each earned First-Team All-CAA Singles honors after enjoying outstanding seasons.

Falck was a repeat honoree on the first team after fashioning a 10-13 record in singles action and played No. 1 for the Seahawks in 12 matches.

Huens, the 2022 CAA Rookie of the Year, went 14-5 in singles play at the No. 1, 2 and 3 positions and finished 10-0 at No. 2 singles. He won seven out of his last eight matches and owns a 28-10 record in singles over two seasons

Junior Gabe Hurtado (Bogota, Colombia), collected Second-Team All-CAA Singles accolades after going 12-4 this spring. He played No. 3, 4 and 5 singles for the Seahawks.

Falck and freshman Alex de Gabriele (Naxxar, Malta) earned Second-Team All-CAA Doubles honors. The tandem went 5-3 in doubles play – all at No. 2 doubles.

Junior Drew Broadstreet (Summerfield, N.C.) and sophomore Trey Mallory (Southampton, Bermuda) garnered All-Conference honors for the first time. The pair collected Third-Team All-CAA Doubles recognition after compiling a 3-6 record, including 3-4 at No. 1 doubles.
