Seahawks Recognize Seniors In Regular Season Finale

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW men's tennis team will recognize its two seniors and celebrate another outstanding year during the regular season finale early Sunday at the UNCW courts.

The Seahawks, 13-7, take on conference rival Charleston in a 2 p.m. first toss that was moved from Saturday due to expected rain in the area. Overall, the Seahawks are 56-37 in singles and 22-26 in doubles this spring.

The Cougars enter the final match with a 10-9 record this spring. The Cougars are 54-50 in singles and 20-27 in doubles.

The Seahawks will honor their two seniors between the singles and doubles matches. The special ceremony will recognize senior Samuel de Felipe Garcia (Ovideo, Spain) and graduate student Davide Innocenti (Florence, Italy). The Seahawks are 15-1 against CAA opponents during Innocenti's time with the team and the graduate student stands 31-5 at home going into Sunday's finale.

In the Seahawks' previous match, visiting No. 74 South Alabama blanked UNCW, 4-0, last Sunday to end the team's 10 home-game winning streak. Charleston last faced UNC Asheville on Apr. 15 and fell, 4-1, on the road.

Both teams are tuning up for next week's Colonial Athletic Association Men's Tennis Championships, scheduled for Apr. 27-30, 2023, at William & Mary's Mackesy Tennis Center at the Millie West Courts.
