Gamache Earns CAA Player of the Week

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW infielder/pitcher Janel Gamache has earned her second Colonial Athletic Association Softball Player of the Week award this spring after a stellar weekend to open conference play.

Gamache hit .556 (5-for-9) with a pair of home runs to help the Seahawks sweep Towson at Boseman Field. In the second game, the 5-11 right-hander limited the Tigers to one run over five innings in the circle to earn the win.

The Exeter, R.I., product recorded a hit in each game while driving in three runs and scoring four in the weekend series.

Gamache has hit safely in 18-of-21 contests to start the season. She paces the CAA with a .429 batting average and ranks third in the circuit with 14 RBI.

It is the fifth career CAA weekly honor for Gamache.
