Women's Tennis Team Meets Queens For First Time

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – One week after opening the spring campaign with a victory over N.C. Central, the UNCW women's tennis team returns to the UNCW Courts early Saturday to close out an early spring homestand.

The Seahawks, who beat the Eagles, 5-2, last Saturday, take on Queens for the first time in a 1 p.m. match. Admission and parking is free.

"We had good takeaways from our first match last week," said Hans Olsen, UNCW's eight-year head coach. "Our players and coaches will look to keep building on who we want to be as a team. It should be an exciting math with Queens. Both teams will be ready to compete."

Senior Zoe Huffman of Maiden, N.C., was UNCW's spark in the season-opening win, defeating NCCU's Kennedy Hill, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 1 singles and teaming up with Anna Daniels for a 6-4 decision over Hill and Maria Picazo at No 2 doubles.

The Royals carry a 0-2 record to the North Carolina coast. Queens has lost to Appalachian State (4-3) and Virginia Tech (7-0) so far this spring.
