Women's Tennis Stays Hot With 5-2 Win

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW ran its winning streak to five on Friday with a 5-2 win over visiting Drexel in women's tennis action at the UNCW Tennis Complex.

UNCW, which moved to 6-1 at home this season, improved to 8-3 on the season while the Dragon stumbled to 7-6.

The Seahawks gained a 1-0 lead with a win in doubles. Lucia Gomez and Simay Keles won at number two doubles, and Elif Albayrak and Eda Arli clinched the point with a dominant 6-2 win at number one.

UNCW breezed through singles play with Gomez winning at number five singles in straight sets and Keles making it a 3-0 lead with a straight-set win of her own at number four.

Alex Borcich sealed the deal at number six singles, with a resounding 6-1, 6-2 win.

UNCW hosts Coastal Carolina on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the final home match of the season. The seniors will be recognized before the match.
