Women's Tennis Dominates NC Central, 7-0

Box Score WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW cruised past visiting North Carolina Central, 7-0, as the Seahawks posted their second shutout of the weekend and extended their winning streak to four.

The Seahawks improved to 7-3 overall and 5-1 at home with the win. The Eagles, meanwhile, dropped to 4-7 and saw a modest two-match winning streak halted.

Alicia Eberwein and Sophia Catino opened the afternoon with a 6-0 win at number three doubles for the Seahawks. Eda Arli and Elif Albayrak sealed the point, though, with a 6-0 win at number one doubles. Lucia Gomez and Simay Keles captured the sweep, also posting a 7-6 win at number two doubles.

Keles clinched the match for UNCW at number four singles with a straight-set 6-0, 6-4 win. Five of the matches were straight-set victories for UNCW.

Arli and Albayrak both chalked up single wins to remain tied for the team lead with eight wins this season.

The Seahawks, who are 4-0 in the seven-match homestand, host Drexel on Mar. 27 at 11 a.m.
