UNCW Freshman Sets School 400 IM Record

UNCW Stands Third In Both Meets at The Gamecock Invitational

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Led by freshman William Carrico's school record in the 400 IM, four Seahawks posted top-3 finishes to lead UNCW on the second day of the Gamecock Invitational on Thursday at the Carolina Natatorium.

The Seahawks are in third place overall in both meets while the host Gamecocks lead both.

In the 400 IM, Karsen Pena took third with a time of 4:22.97 in the women's championship final and William Carrico was second for UNCW on the men's side when his time of 3:48.42 set a new program standard for the Seahawks.

Kyle Johnson fashioned a third-place finish with a time of 47.47 seconds in the 100 Fly Championship final. Cameron Snowden clocked in with a fourth-place time of 53.50 in the women's final.

Gil Shaw rounded out the top-3 finishes for UNCW when she posted a time of 1:01.95 to finish third in the championship final of the 100 Breaststroke.

UNCW posted a pair of third-place finishes in the 800 Free Relay to close out the day's activities.

In diving action in Fairfax, Va., sophomore Ethan Badrian won the men's 1-meter board with a score of 308.25 points edging junior teammate Nic Newis (306.40). On the women's 3-meter board, Hunter Smith, a senior, finished third with 267.60 points.

Both the Gamecock Invitational and the Patriot Invitationals conclude on Nov. 17.
