Freshman helped UNCW to win at Duke

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW freshman William Carrico earned his second Coastal Athletic Association Swimmer of the Week honor, sharing the accolade with Towson's Brian Benzing, following the Seahawks' win at Duke last week.

Carrico won both the 500 Free and 400 IM as UNCW rallied past the Blue Devils for a 152.5 -145.5 road win. His win in the 500 Free pushed the Seahawks into the lead and his victory in the 400 IM held off the charging Blue Devils.

For Carrico, who has won eight races this season, it is his second CAA honor.

With the win over Duke, the Seahawk men have wins over the SEC (South Carolina) and ACC this season for the first time in program history.

The Seahawks close out the fall at the Gamecock Invitational in Columbia, S.C., on Nov. 15-17.
